Updating Soft Order and Result Codes

To enable our next generation of information management solutions, Mayo Medical Laboratories will be retiring its old Lab3 numeric test codes in the fourth quarter of 2013. As a result, if your organization has an interface with Mayo Medical Laboratories, Lab3 numeric order and result test codes will need to be updated to our alphanumeric Soft test codes. At the time of Mayo’s SCC Soft Upgrade, Mayo implemented a translation table called Lab-to-Lab (L2L). L2L maps the old numeric Lab3 codes to the new alpha-numeric SCC codes when interface orders and results are sent into and out of MayoAccess. The Lab-to-Lab translation application will be retired in the fourth quarter of 2013 in conjunction with the retirement of the Lab3 codes. What this means to you The Mayo test dictionary included in your organization’s laboratory information system must be updated to ensure all tests are identified by the new order and result test codes. For the majority of clients, the process requires only that the test order and result codes be changed within your test builds. We realize that this will require resources on your part. That is why your Mayo Medical Laboratories Regional Service Representative (RSR) or a Mayo Client Support member will be available to answer any questions you may have throughout this process. You will be contacted shortly to discuss the next steps and help you navigate the process outlined in the document below. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to perform this activity.
