Draft of: Plasma Cell Neoplasms: Providing a Continuum of Care

Lunch Symposium / 2019 SH/EAHP Workshop

This symposium is not part of the official SH Workshop education program and is planned solely by Mayo Clinic Laboratories.

Thursday, September 12, 2019
Phoenix, Arizona

Description

With continuous advancements in the diagnosis and prognosis of plasma cell neoplasms, it can be challenging for health care providers to keep up. Designed for practicing hematologists and hematopathologists, this program will provide an overview of the evolving repertoire of test options and illustrate how unnecessary, redundant, and costly laboratory tests can be eliminated using data-driven testing algorithms. Armed with this knowledge, health care providers can more effectively diagnose, monitor, and treat patients.

Intended Audience

Hematopathologists and pathologists who provide care for patients with plasma cell neoplasms.

Conference Objectives

Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Describe recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of plasma cell neoplasms
  • Discuss the approach to test ordering using an algorithmic strategy
  • Review the minimal residual testing in patient care modules
  • Discuss the role of new technology in plasma cell neoplasms

Attendance at this Mayo conference does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures that may be discussed or taught in the courses.
