Jane Hermansen Discusses Performance Metrics for Laboratory Outreach in “MedicalLab Management”

An article written by Mayo Medical Laboratories Outreach Program Coordinator Jane Hermansen was recently featured in the July/August 2013 issue of "MedicalLab Management."

The article, titled "Performance Metrics for Laboratory Outreach," is written to answer the question of why metrics are important for outreach and show how using metrics can justify staffing and infrastructure costs when benchmarked against peers who do not have similar outreach program businesses.

Jane also notes that while there are many nationally recognized healthcare governing and accrediting bodies intended to guide a laboratory's analytic and technical performance, there are no governing bodies that require monitoring or measurement of outreach-specific metrics.
