Introducing the New Mayo Educational Buildings #throwbackthursday

1986DemoOf1914BuildingIn 1986, plans were announced for the construction of an 11-story medical education center. Offices and facilities for many of Mayo’s educational programs, along with a variety of related administrative activities, were consolidated in the new building. It also housed new facilities and technology to enable education programs to be offered outside Rochester through teleconferencing. The Mayo educational building adjoined the Plummer Building at the east end of the Mayo campus.

  • The Mayo Graduate School of Medicine — administrative functions
  • Director for Education offices
  • The Section of Continuing Educations — office meeting rooms, including a large auditorium and seminar facilities
  • School of Health-Related studios
  • Section of Publications — offices
  • Microcomputer and office automation training center
  • Mayo Medical Museum
  • Mayo Clinic Health Letter and Clinical Update — offices
  • Patient Education activities
  • Section of Information Processing and systems functions
  • Medical Social Services — offices
