Bobbi Pritt, M.D., Featured on Mayo Clinic Radio
On the May 16 broadcast of Mayo Clinic Radio, microbiologist Bobbi Pritt, M.D., talked about her unusual blog, “Creepy, Dreadful, Wonderful Parasites: A Parasitologist’s View of the World.” The one-hour radio show highlights health and medical information from Mayo Clinic.
After the first segment, co-hosts Tracy McCray and Tom Shives, M.D., spoke with Dr. Pritt, Director of the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, about her creepy blog.
“I’ve always loved infectious organisms,” Dr. Pritt told the hosts. “I did my fellowship at Mayo Clinic in clinical microbiology. After finishing my fellowship, I was hired at Mayo and was then able to attend the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to study parasitology for one year.”
During that year in England, Dr. Pritt says she saw some amazing cases. Her blog started as a way to share these cases with colleagues back at Mayo. Through word of mouth, people from all walks of life around the globe have become interested in Dr. Pritt’s “case of the week,” and her readership continues to grow.
