Bobbi Pritt, M.D., Receives Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of American Pathologists

prittBobbi Pritt, M.D., was recently awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) at the annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 4.

Dr. Pritt began her involvement with CAP as a junior member serving on the CAP Internet Review Board. She then served on the Information Science and Technology Committee and later on the Microbiology Resource Committee. She is now the incoming Chair of the Microbiology Resource Committee for 2016.

“It has been my good fortune to have been granted many opportunities to teach throughout my career,” she says.

About Dr. Bobbi Pritt
Dr. Pritt is the Director of the Clinical Parasitology and Initial Processing Laboratories and a Consultant in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. She serves as vice chair of education and holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.

Dr. Pritt’s research focuses on clinical parasitology, vector-borne diseases, emerging pathogens, trainee education, and optimizing laboratory test utilization. She has overseen the development of multiple real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for parasites and vector-borne infections and has recently characterized two new tick-borne human pathogens in the upper midwest.

She received her M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Fletcher Allen Heath Care/University of Vermont Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Medical Microbiology from the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.
