PathWays Case Study for May 10
A 63-year-old woman presented 8 years ago to the emergency room with right-sided chest pain. A CT scan revealed a 1.8 cm ileal mass and multiple liver nodules. The small bowel mass and one liver nodule were resected at that time. She continued to develop liver nodules requiring arterial embolization, a left neck nodule, and pleural effusions. She eventually succumbed to her disease. At autopsy, she had multiple nodules throughout the liver, heart, lungs, peritoneum, spleen, and bone marrow.
