Mary Bonnerup Receives 2016 National Lab Sales Excellence Award
Mary Bonnerup, MT(ASCP), Clinical Specialty Representative in Hematology and Oncology at Mayo Medical Laboratories (MML), has received the 2016 National Lab Sales Excellence Award from The Dark Intelligence Group. The first-ever award recognizes the nation’s top-producing laboratory sales professionals who achieve exceptional results in an ethical manner that reflect well on their parent laboratory organizations and the clinical laboratory industries.
Bonnerup started her career at Mayo Clinic in 1991 in the Hematopathology Laboratory as an assistant supervisor. In 1994, she transitioned to MML, working in Technical Support and other sales and service roles before her current position as a Clinical Specialty Representative in Hematology and Oncology. Bonnerup covers several territories, including Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Upper Michigan.
Bonnerup is honored to receive the award and be a part of MML and Mayo Clinic. “Mayo Medical Laboratories is different than other labs and supports best test utilization. Further, as an entire organization, the needs of the patient do really come first at Mayo. I have enjoyed all my roles and wonderful opportunities to learn and grow as I stay true to that mission!”
Prior to Mayo, Bonnerup worked at several hospital laboratories across the country. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Mankato State. Bonnerup lives in Rochester, Minnesota, with her husband of 45 years and enjoys spending time with their two children and six grandchildren.
Bonnerup received her award at the Executive War College on Laboratory and Pathology Management, that took place April 26–27 in New Orleans.

The National Lab Sales Excellence Award from The Dark Intelligence Group is the industry’s first-ever award to recognize the nation’s top-producing laboratory sales professionals. Awards are given to lab sales professionals in five different sectors of laboratory testing: Hospital Laboratory Outreach; Specialty Testing Laboratory (including Molecular Diagnostics, Genetic Testing); Commercial Reference Laboratory (Public and Private); Anatomic/Surgical Pathology Laboratory; and In Vitro Diagnostics Equipment Company or Lab Software Solution Sales (including LIS and Lab Middleware). Awardees receive recognition and a monetary award, along with expenses and registration to travel to the Executive War College and participate in the awards ceremony.
