PathWays Case Study: Sept. 13


A 69-year-old woman presented to her primary care provider with new concerns of episodic chest pain, palpitations, and hypotension. She additionally complained of profound shortness of breath and fatigue upon exertion. Transthoracic echocardiogram revealed severe tricuspid and pulmonary valve regurgitation. Abdominal imaging showed multiple hepatic lesions. She underwent surgical repair of the tricuspid valve, which resulted in the specimen shown in the image.
