A 68-year-old woman with a diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism underwent right superior parathyroid gland resection. The patient experienced prolonged paralysis and apnea post-surgery. The total serum pseudocholinesterase activity was 2700 U/L (Reference Interval for females>=50 years: 2500-6800U/L), and the dibucaine inhibition was 42%.
