We sat down with Justin Kreuter, M.D., to learn more about this year's conference and to learn what attendees can look forward to at TransFuse 2018.
This two-and-a-half-day multidisciplinary conference will explore current state-of-the-art techniques to manage hemorrhage and hemostatic challenges. There will be an in-depth explanation of the controversies of patient blood management, including an international perspective. This year, we are also offering a unique tour of two facilities: the United States Army Human Physiology Laboratory and the Institute of Surgical Research-Burn Center.

This educational activity is designed for medical specialists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, pathologists, perfusionists, hospitalists, hematologists, pediatricians, transfusion medicine specialists, residents, nurses, laboratory quality managers/directors, and patient blood-management directors and coordinators.
Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:
- Explain the most recent evidence-based use of transfusion therapies to optimally care for patients.
- Describe how big data and quality practices may be implemented.
- Apply the concept of comprehensive blood management to support the needs of the patient, blood inventory, and the institution.
- Discuss the controversies and international perspectives in patient blood management.

A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.

If you cancel your participation in this conference on or before January 14, 2018, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded. The Mayo Medical Laboratories Education Department must receive written notification of your cancellation. No refunds will be made after January 14, 2018.
Mayo Medical Laboratories reserves the right to cancel or postpone any conference due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo Medical Laboratories must cancel or postpone this conference, Mayo Medical Laboratories will refund the registration fee but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies.
