PAMA and the Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule: 2019 Update

Originally presented February 21, 2019

Presentation now available (to Primary clients only).

Overview

Significant changes have been made to the implementation of the clinical laboratory fee schedule (CLFS) since its introduction under the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) in 2018. The “applicable laboratories” criteria have been expanded to include hospital laboratories engaged in outreach. The most recent period for data collection began on January 1, 2019, and laboratories may face significant challenges obtaining the needed data and defending the value of their laboratories.
