Why attend?

Health care leaders attend the Leveraging the Laboratory Conference to learn how to transform the role of the laboratory within their health care organizations, take control of lab data and payer contracts, continually improve patient care, and build lasting connections with other leaders in the health care field.

Understand the Financial Value of Your Lab

Did you know that more than 75% of objective, decision-making information in an average medical record is derived from laboratory data? These data have a quantifiable impact on all aspects of population health and patient management, including screening, early detection, accurate diagnosis, pharmaceutical management, length of stay, and likelihood of readmission. Join Pat Bezenek from Mayo Clinic in a session that digs into the “Financial Value of the Laboratory.”

Utilizing Clinical Decision Support

Don Flott of Mayo Clinic will be giving a talk on “Utilizing Clinical Decision Support to Improve Laboratory Ordering and Reduce Cost of Care”. The discussion will focus on how laboratory ordering guidance integrated into physician work flows can improve optimization, drive out unnecessary waste, and result in lower overall cost. This presentation will introduce clinical decision support basics, including how data is collected, analyzed, and translated into opportunities to introduce targeted intervention within the EMR based on the Mayo Clinic experience.

Choose Your Path

This year we will have several relevant and engaging breakout sessions to choose from including “Outcall Phlebotomy: Outpatient Laboratory Partners with Primary Care for Team-Based Outreach” with Nicole Kang from Mayo Clinic and “Getting Ahead of Growth: Positioning Lab Facilities for Outreach Success” with Matt Hanley from Mayo Clinic.

Lively Discussions

Join Lois Vanenk and Joe Seestadt from Bronson Healthcare Group as they explore “Chicken or the Egg: How Bronson Lab Worked with Their Executive Leadership to Invest in an Outreach Service Line and a New Lab Building during the Age of Consolidation and Outsourcing of Hospital Laboratories.”

Network with Thought Leaders

Take advantage of this exciting opportunity to network with the leading minds, voices, and champions of change. There will be a number of opportunities for attendees to network with individuals from around the country representing every functional area of the hospital, including physician leadership, chief executives, pathologists, laboratory leadership, outreach staff, operations managers, phlebotomy supervisors, marketing and sales staff, and other business areas.
