Overview

This “Continual Improvement” webinar will share how the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic provides root cause analysis (RCA) education to lab staff. Hands-on training of lab staff provides them with firsthand knowledge of RCA and emphasizes its vital importance in process improvement.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the need for productive RCA in the laboratory. 
  • Outline the content of a successful hands-on RCA educational program for laboratory staff.
  • Explain the importance of leadership support and team recognition.

This series is appropriate for laboratory administrators and managers, quality assurance and control staff, supervisors, and other laboratory personnel who are dedicated to continuous quality and process improvement.
