Presented by: Mayo Clinic Laboratories in joint collaboration with the American Association of Blood Banks.

This multidisciplinary conference explores the evolution of Patient Blood Management (PBM) to recognize clinical situations where transfusion or factor concentrates are associated with optimizing patient outcomes as well as identification and effective treatment of anemia. There will be an in-depth explanation of the controversies in PBM and how data analytics and diagnostic management teams improve and streamline PBM programs through individualized patient care.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Apply the concept of individualized blood management to support the needs of the patient, blood inventory, and institution.
  • Discuss the chronic challenges in Patient Blood Management.
  • Explain the most recent evidence-based use of transfusion and cell therapies to optimally care for patients.
  • Describe how data, metrics, and analytics are applied to improve quality practice.
