This breakthrough initiative to provide timely, widespread testing for COVID-19 is a partnership between the state of Minnesota, the University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, and other health system leaders. We have a long history of coming together to respond to the needs of our state. From leading-edge research collaborations to a robust and shared response to Hurricane Katrina, each institution brings unique and complementary skills to solve complex health promotion and care concerns.

How does it work?

Health care institutions across the state are performing COVID-19 diagnostic testing at their local laboratories. When more testing capacity is needed than is locally available, or an outbreak emerges, the state initiative’s testing command center will connect the provider with the capacity they need.

Initiative Goals

• Test all symptomatic and at-risk individuals.

• Effectively isolate confirmed cases to limit the spread.

• Expand surveillance tools for public health officials.
