Laboratory Safety Audit, Document Management System and Ensuring Information Is Managed and Secure

Overview

This module uses a scenario format to explore the following QSEs: Facilities & Safety, Documents & Records, and Information Management. The opening segment discusses the value of performing a laboratory safety audit and key elements of a laboratory safety program. The next segment explores essential components of a document management system. The final segment discusses how information is managed with a focus on the electronic environment. Topics will include security, interfaces with other software programs, and software validation.

After completing this module, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the value of performing safety audits
  • Examine key points regarding document management
  • Identify two best practices for managing user access security
  • Identify key components of a laboratory Information System Downtime Plan
  • Assess the strengths and limitations of your organization’s current practices related to the key components outlined above
