Mayo Medical Laboratories Rebrands Its Name as Mayo Clinic Laboratories

Mayo Medical Laboratories, the global reference laboratory of Mayo Clinic, has changed its name to Mayo Clinic Laboratories.

“It may seem subtle, but it’s a very strong name change that we welcome,” says William Morice, II, M.D., Ph.D., president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories and chair of Mayo’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. “Becoming Mayo Clinic Laboratories solidifies our market position as the largest reference laboratory in the United States that is fully integrated with a world-renowned medical hospital. We have Mayo Clinic physicians, scientists, and laboratory staff available to consult with our clients every step of the way.”

The organization has been doing business as Mayo Medical Laboratories for more than 47 years. The reference laboratory works with more than 4,000 health care clients worldwide, receiving upward of 35,000 specimens per day from more than 70 countries. In addition, more than 1 million people visit Mayo Clinic each year for their care. The health care and laboratory teams at Mayo are highly specialized and experienced in treating rare and complex conditions.

“Our new name more accurately reflects the seamless and coordinated care every patient specimen receives when it comes to Mayo Clinic,” adds Dr. Morice. “We have more than 65 specialty laboratories that perform testing on these specimens, and we extend our Mayo Clinic level of care to all of our health care providers and patients around the world.

“We are proud of our ability to deliver more than just test results,” says Dr. Morice. “At Mayo Clinic Laboratories, we provide answers for our patients, their families, and their health care providers.”
