Allan Jaffe, M.D., Consultant and Chair of Mayo Clinic’s Division of Clinical Core Laboratory Services, with a joint appointment in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, has received the Reviewer of the Year Award from the prestigious European Heart Journal.
The European Heart Journal continues to hold the number one spot among global cardiology journals. Editor-in-Chief Thomas F. Lüscher outlined the performance and trends over the last 12 months. One of the sections he commented on was the peer-review system, which he said is important because the journal need reviewers with good judgment and commitment. Dr. Jaffe received the top honor for this past year.
Dr. Jaffe has spent his long academic career investigating the use of biomarkers to characterize the pathobiology of acute cardiovascular disease. He has published extensively on the use of both cardiac troponin and natriuretic peptides to characterize patients with both acute and chronic heart failure.
In addition to the European Heart Journal, Dr. Jaffe is a member of most of the major cardiology and clinical chemistry editorial boards and sits on most of the major guidelines committees for the use of these biomarkers.
