Although the sites are convenient and easily accessible for many people, they do pose some potential drawbacks. Interviewed for the article, William Morice II, M.D., Ph.D., noted that clear information about results is an important part of COVID-19 testing.

"I think No. 1 would be if people get tested, will they have someone there to explain what the results mean?" said Dr. Morice, chair of Mayo Clinic's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, and president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories.

The article also explained the tests offered at these facilities are not free, although the fee may be covered by insurance.
