New Tests

In April 2021, Mayo Clinic Laboratories announced two new tests along with numerous reference value changes, obsolete tests, and algorithm changes.

The new tests that launched in April 2021 by Mayo Clinic Laboratories:

PGDBS | Plasmalogens, Blood Spot

This test is useful for diagnosing patients with possible peroxisomal disorders, evaluating patients with abnormal newborn screen results for X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, or as an aid in the assessment of peroxisomal function.

COVNG | Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Lineage, Clade, and Spike Gene Mutation Detection, Next-Generation Sequencing, Varies

This test is useful for distinguishing between persistent infection with the same viral strain and re-infection with a new viral strain in an individual with recurrent positive molecular test results for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.
