The Division of Computational Pathology and Artificial Intelligence in Mayo Clinic’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is led by Jason Hipp, M.D., Ph.D. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic in June 2021 as chair of this new division, Dr. Hipp was involved in academia and worked in the technology and pharmaceutical industries.
On a recent episode of the Digital Pathology Association’s podcast “Beyond the Scope,” Dr. Hipp talks about his previous roles and his career path, along with the evolution that he’s seen over the years in pathology informatics. He also discusses how, as digital pathology becomes more prominent, it will require pathologists to possess a more diverse skillset and take on new roles.
