Martin Luther King Jr. Day: UPS Closure to Affect Specimen Shipping
Mayo Clinic Laboratories' specimen pickup and delivery schedules will be altered for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day. United Parcel Service (UPS) will be closed on this day, and Mayo Clinic Laboratories wants to ensure specimen viability and prevent turnaround time delays. Please follow the guidelines below:
Guidelines for domestic clients
Guidelines for shipping UPS
- Any samples that ship UPS on Saturday, Jan. 17, won’t be delivered until Tuesday, Jan. 20.
- Clients with courier service: On Saturday, Jan. 17, and Monday, Jan. 19, UPS shipments will be moved to FedEx or Delta by MCL Global Logistics, and clients will be notified by their courier if this impacts their pick-up time. Clients wanting to cancel their pick-up and hold samples should call 1-800-533-1710.
- Clients shipping on their own: Do not ship UPS on Saturday, Jan. 17, or Monday, Jan. 19. We recommend that clients hold samples or ship FedEx.
For questions, please contact Customer Service at 800-533-1710.
Guidelines for international clients
To safeguard your samples, we strongly recommend the following guidelines for international shipments:
- Shipments scheduled to arrive on Monday, Jan. 19, will be delivered on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
- International clients on a courier route: Please be aware of potential delays from the weekend before the holiday related to U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations, and please hold irretrievable samples within stability, if possible, on days prior to the holiday.
