Independence Day Specimen Shipping Guidelines and Schedule

Mayo Clinic Laboratories' specimen pickup and delivery schedules will be altered due to the upcoming July 4th holiday. To ensure specimen stability and prevent delays, follow the guidelines outlined below for domestic clients and international clients.

Guidelines for domestic clients

Guidelines for shipping FedEx or UPS

  • FedEx: Service will be limited on Friday, July 3, and closed on Saturday, July 4. If there is a delay, shipments sent on Thursday, July 2, may not arrive until Monday, July 6. Shipments sent on Friday, July 3, will not arrive until Monday, July 6.
  • UPS: Service will be closed on Saturday, July 4. Shipments sent on Friday, July 3, will not arrive until Monday, July 6.
  • Carrier delays are possible. To reduce risk to the specimens, Mayo Clinic Laboratories Global Logistics team will convert eligible courier-route shipments to Delta, where available, for shipments normally sent by FedEx on Thursday, July 2, or by FedEx or UPS on Friday, July 3.
  • If you arrange your own shipping by UPS or FedEx, add extra frozen cool packs for refrigerated shipments and enough dry ice to support the longer transit time.
