18Infectious Disease Pathology a.           Case 1: 40-year-old man originally from Arkansas who is a teacher in at an international school in Ghana. He recently completed a vacation in Tunisia and Morocco and started noticing lesions on the arms and legs at sites of previous bug bites. (DR-25-26475 A1; SECTRA)
b.           Case 2: 66-year-old man with history of relapsing polychondritis (on chronic prednisone and weekly etanercept) and myelodysplastic syndrome. He has developed a non-healing painful tongue ulcer over the past 6 weeks. (XR-13-14895 A1; DPAS)
c.           Case 3: 65-year-old man with multilevel spinal involvement with methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) associated with an epidural abscess, high-grade bacteremia with MSSA, right prosthetic knee infection with MSSA, and aortic valve endocarditis with MSSA.  Now presenting with a new ulcerative tongue lesion. (SR-19-31706 A1; DPAS)
d.           Case 4: A 65-year-old man with chronic non-healing ulcers of the lower back and buttocks.
e.           Case 5: The patient is a 75-year-old man with a history of moderate to severe aortic insufficiency and a 45-pack year smoking history, with a 3.5 cm nodule of the right mid lung noted on chest X-ray. He is a retired United States truck driver currently living in the upper midwestern United States. Given his former smoking history and concern for malignancy, a right video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery with wedge excision was performed.
f.            Case 6: 54-year-old male with acute myelogenous leukemia presented with right periorbital swelling, diplopia, and bloody nasal discharge. He had just received induction chemotherapy in the previous week. Physical examination revealed right periorbital swelling with proptosis and subconjunctival hemorrhage, and nasal endoscopy revealed significant edema and hemorrhage of the right middle turbinate. A right endonasal medial maxillectomy with debridement of the medial orbital tissues was performed. (No slide, just IMAGE)
