Memorial Day Specimen Shipment Alert
Domestic Operational Update
Due to the Memorial Day holiday (recognized on Monday, May 29), Mayo Clinic Laboratories' specimen pickup and delivery schedules will be altered. To ensure that your specimen viability and turnaround times are not affected, plan ahead and note:
Please read the following recommendation for shipping on Saturday, May 27th:
- Hold any frozen, refrigerate, temperature and stability sensitive specimens.
- If the client chooses to ship:
- Shipping FedEx
- Not guaranteed a Sunday delivery. Shipments that miss the Sunday FedEx delivery will not arrive until Tuesday, May 30th.
- Add additional frozen cool packs to refrigerate shipments.
- Shipments typically delivering to MCL Jacksonville (MCL-JAX) will be diverted to MCL Rochester (MCL-RST). See table below for dates.
- Shipping UPS
- It is not recommended to ship UPS as there will be no deliveries until Tuesday, May 30th.
- Shipping Commercial Airlines
- No changes to shipments, proceed as normal.
- Shipping FedEx
