New communication process for CPT Code changes

Operational Update

Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL) is pleased to announce an essential update to our CPT code communication process and website layout. This change is designed to bring timely notifications for accurate billing information.

New Process

We recently changed our process and tools for CPT code updates. Instead of the annual email and monthly notice of changes in the newsletter, we will send updates via email as changes are released.

This will allow us to provide future effective dates for planned changes and real-time updates for immediate changes. The listed CPT codes reflect MCL's interpretation of American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines and recommendations. Users are responsible for selecting the appropriate CPT codes for their organization, and CPT codes may change at any time. MCL understands how important it is to have accurate and timely CPT codes for your billing, and this new process will ensure you have the most up-to-date information.

Additionally, on the Mayo Clinic Laboratories website, the CPT Code and Test Classification Updates page is divided into two separate pages. The refreshed CPT Code Updates and Test Classification Updates web pages will continue to provide historical changes and real-time updates for existing tests.

What this means for you

With this change, after January 2025, MCL will discontinue sharing the CPT code updates in the monthly newsletter and the annual email.  To receive this information, subscribe to these updates by selecting CPT Code Updates in your Subscriptions.

As always, we remain committed to your success. If you have any questions or want to learn more, contact your MCL representative or Customer Service.
