Robin Patel, M.D., Chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology, has been appointed as a founding member of the new Institute for Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education.
The institute builds upon a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and Mayo Clinic. The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges selected Iowa State University as the location for the institute, which will address the growing public health concern of antimicrobial resistance.
