Mayo Clinic Laboratories is thrilled to introduce “Lab Medicine Rounds.” This curated podcast for physicians, laboratory professionals, and students features trending topics from Mayo Clinic Laboratories subject-matter experts. Hosted by Justin Kreuter, M.D., and produced by Mayo Clinic Laboratories’ Education team, it is set to release new episodes monthly for the first year, with the hope of increasing frequency over time.
Education Program Manager Heidi Zunker and Education Specialist Melissa Peterson took on the project of producing this educational podcast and knew they would have to find the right host for the show.
“Having worked with Dr. Kreuter on past programs and seeing his passion for the practice and technology, we knew he would be a great host,” Peterson says.
Dr. Kreuter, a transfusion medicine pathologist at Mayo Clinic, enthusiastically agreed to host and came up with the title of “Lab Medicine Rounds.” Dr. Kreuter is known for his favorite accessory, a bow tie, and has been dubbed “The Bow Tie Bandit of Blood.” This persona was the perfect fit to host the podcast.
With the help of Producer Director Rick Andresen, who records and edits the show, Art Director Jonathan Hagberg, who designed the album artwork, and the support of the Mayo Clinic Laboratories Marketing team, the podcast launched on September 6. After months of planning, the Education team, along with Dr. Kreuter, looks forward to sharing the show with listeners.
