William Morice II, M.D., Ph.D., considers the future of diagnostics

May 31, 2022

In a recent article published in Becker’s Hospital Review, William Morice II, M.D., Ph.D., president of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, discusses where laboratory medicine goes from here, now that the COVID-19 pandemic has raised awareness of its crucial role in health care. He also considers how technology will play a part as lab medicine moves forward.

"One thing that makes me excited is that we're working at both ends of the spectrum with diagnostics," Dr. Morice says. "There are a lot of technologies coming out that will replace traditional diagnostics. Wearables, transdermal measuring of things — that's going to create a whole new opportunity for us to meaningfully intervene."
