mcfDNA METAGENOMIC SEQUENCING: A DEEPER LEVEL OF DETECTION FOR DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE PATHOGENS
Learn how metagenomic sequencing of microbial cell-free DNA (mcfDNA) has emerged as a precision technique to quickly and accurately diagnose serious and complex infections — which is particularly important in immunocompromised patients.
This webinar will provide participants with an overview of mcfDNA metagenomic sequencing assays, including plasma and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) testing, offered in collaboration with Karius. Participants will also learn about clinical decision-making around test ordering, appropriate clinical indications, and how to interpret and apply results to support timely diagnosis and patient management.

Dr. Binnicker is the chief scientific officer of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, has served as the director of the Clinical Virology and Clinical Microbiology Molecular Laboratories, and is a professor of laboratory medicine and pathology at Mayo Clinic. As chief scientific officer, Dr. Binnicker spearheads the scientific endeavors of Mayo Clinic Laboratories and leads product research, design, and development initiatives. He also works closely with leaders in Mayo Clinic's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, with other independent clinical laboratories, and with leading diagnostic manufacturers to provide advanced testing and pathology services for healthcare organizations.
