Introduction to Phlebotomy
MODULE 1
This module will serve as an introduction to phlebotomy, with the goal of furthering your knowledge and skills on your journey as a phlebotomist. Information related to collection devices, an explanation of the types of equipment, and the situation for which each should be used will be explored. An in-depth look at the collection tubes, inversions, additives, and the recommended order of draw will be reviewed. In addition, general specimen labeling requirements and a summary of key phlebotomy terminology will be shared.

Learning Objectives
- Recognize the collection tubes, their additives, and end products after processing.
- Review the recommended order of draw.
- Examine the anatomy of the arm, including site selection.
- Identify the types of equipment used in the phlebotomy process, and the situations in which they should be used.
