Fergus Couch, Ph.D., Awarded Breast Cancer Research Foundation Grant

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has awarded a research grant to Fergus Couch, Ph.D., for his research proposal, “Inherited Genetic Risk Factors for Breast Cancer.” Dr. Couch will receive $250,000 to use toward his research efforts between October of this year and October 2018.

About Dr. Fergus Couch
Dr. Couch serves as Chair of the Division of Experimental Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and holds the academic rank of Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Sciences. He is jointly appointed in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Department of Health Sciences Research.

Dr. Couch has received numerous awards including the Zbigniew and Anna M. Scheller Professorship of Medical Research and the 2013 Mayo Clinic Investigator of the Year. He has published more than 400 peer-reviewed research manuscripts focused mainly on characterizing genetic risk factors for breast and pancreatic cancer.
