Mayo Clinic Employees Volunteer at Super Bowl LII

Crew 52

Six employees from the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic are participating in Super Bowl LII festivities this week in Minneapolis. Cathy Devine, Cindy Gosse, Cherish Grabau, Cecilia (Cece) Myers, Dirk Niles, and Michelle Schmitt are a part of 75 Mayo Clinic staff volunteers, known as “Crew 52.”

According to Devine, the volunteers work three shifts for 4 to 6 hours each from January 26 to February 5. Volunteers will be dispersed throughout the many Super Bowl festivities. For example, Devine will be at the Volunteer Headquarters at Nicollet Mall, while Grabau and Niles will be at “GoLive,” also located at Nicollet Mall.

In March 2017, Mayo Clinic announced internally that it would be hiring employees to volunteer at the “Big Game.” Devine said that 30,000 employees applied for the opportunity. Of those, 15,000 staff members were interviewed, and 10,000 were hired.
