Joseph Maleszewski, M.D., Appointed Assistant Dean of Mayo Clinic School of Medicine

Joseph Maleszewski, M.D., has been named the Assistant Dean of Curriculum for the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. He will be directly accountable to the senior associate dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Maleszewski will serve as a member of the Academic Affairs Executive Committee and will chair the Curriculum Committee. He will also lead the Curriculum Integration Subcommittee to ensure horizontal and vertical integration of curriculum content. Other duties will include approving curriculum templates, student schedules, and curriculum policies and procedures.

Dr. Maleszewski is a Consultant in the Division of Anatomic Pathology in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He also has a joint appointment in the Division of Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology and is a Consultant in the Department of Medical Genetics and Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. Dr. Maleszewski studies acquired and congenital forms of heart disease. His primary research focuses on neoplastic heart disease as well as the genetics and proteomics of both cardiomyopathies and aortic disease. Dr. Maleszewski's research aims to improve the diagnostic and prognostic approaches to cardiovascular and pulmonary disease. His academic ranks at Mayo Clinic include Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and Professor of Medicine.
