Jeffrey Winters, M.D., was recognized at the American Society for Apheresis Annual (ASFA) Meeting in Portland, Oregon on May 16. Dr. Winters received the Francis S. Morrison, M.D., Lecture Memorial Award.
Dr. Winters presented his lecture, "Two Decades of Therapeutic Apheresis and the American Society for Apheresis: The Good, The Bad, and The Future".
About the Award
The Francis S. Morrison, M.D., Lecture Memorial Award has recognized a keynote lecturer at the annual AFSA Meeting every year since 2002. The award honors the spirit of Dr. Morrison, a "true pioneer in apheresis medicine." It is bestowed upon a member of the AFSA who has made major contributions to the field of apheresis medicine and who has made a lasting difference in the field.
About Dr. Winters
Dr. Winters serves as Vice Chair of the Division of Transfusion Medicine in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Winters holds the academic rank of Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He is also the Associate Program Director in charge of clinical pathology curriculum for the Mayo Clinic Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency and the Vice Chair of the World Apherisis Association.
