Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • List the pre-analytical variables commonly encountered in laboratory medicine.
  • Identify the nature and frequency of pre-analytical factors responsible for sample rejection.
  • Describe effective strategies to reduce the rate of specimen rejection and mitigate the risk of patient harm.
