PAMA Implementation Delayed for 2022

December 10, 2021

The laboratory industry is breathing a sigh of relief with the passage of S. 610, the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act. Expected to be signed into law, this bill delays the implementation the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA), which included fee cuts of up to 15% for nearly 600 commonly ordered clinical laboratory tests, and mandatory reporting of reimbursement data to CMS. Once signed into law, these cuts and reporting requirements will be delayed one full year, from January 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
