Overview

This "Phlebotomy Webinar" will cover real-life challenging scenarios that arise in the clinical setting. Four unique case studies will be presented, and suggestions will be discussed on how to help and respond during challenging blood draws to support the pediatric patient. Included will be perspectives from various viewpoints such as staff, patients, and families. Resources will be shared, along with how to incorporate or develop these tools for the attendee’s current practice.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate behavioral considerations amongst the various age groups within the pediatric population.
  • Recognize various perspectives, through assessment, in order to make a positive collection for all involved.
  • Identify resources needed in your current practice in order to support the pediatric population.

Intended audience

This series is appropriate for phlebotomists, phlebotomy managers, phlebotomy educators, and other patient-care staff involved in specimen collection.
