Bobbi Pritt, M.D., chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic and director of the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, joined the Dr. Radio Internal Medicine show on Sirius XM to discuss vector-borne disease and Lyme disease diagnosis.
“We're still trying to find the best way to diagnose Lyme disease early,” says Dr. Pritt. “Usually, if you see that plastic bull’s-eye rash, you can diagnose Lyme disease in a heavy Lyme disease endemic area.”
Dr. Pritt discusses her work in the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic and the technology used to detect Lyme disease. They also discuss current testing methods for monkeypox.
