FDA reports shortages of amoxicillin

A type of amoxicillin used by children is in short supply in the U.S., according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Amoxicillin comes as a capsule, a tablet, a chewable tablet and as a liquid to be taken by mouth, depending on the age of the patient. The FDA listed the liquid form of the drug, which is used by young children, in its drug shortage database.. Source: The Hill

Flu season arrives early with highest severity in over a decade

Influenza is hitting the U.S. harder and earlier this year, data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday shows. Driving the news: Flu season, which usually starts to pick up in October and peaks between January and February, arrived about six weeks early with particularly high illness in the U.S. South and Southeast, according to the CDC. $2.5 million in grants awarded to expand child telepsychiatry services in Wisconsin

Five grants totaling $2.5 million were awarded to Wisconsin health care facilities to help increase access to child telepsychiatry services, including at one group that serves patients in the counties of Rock and Jefferson. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services explained Tuesday that each one-year, $250,000 grant will help five health care organizations recruit and retain more psychiatrists and behavioral health professionals. Walmart Health to open 3 clinics in Jacksonville by fall 2023

Walmart will open three health centers in Jacksonville as part of 16 expected in Florida by fall 2023. The Jacksonville clinics are at the Walmart Supercenters at 11900 Atlantic Blvd., 10991 San Jose Blvd. and 12100 Lem Turner Road. In April, Walmart Health opened clinics at 7075 Collins Road in Jacksonville and 1586 Branan Field Road in Middleburg. Source: Jacksonville Daily Record
