CDC regulations on importing biological specimens

12/20/22

Effective Jan. 2, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will enhance the enforcement of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements on the importation of biological specimens. Please include the CDC permit with all your shipment (Category A and Category B). Failure to comply will result in your shipment being denied admissibility by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. If an entry is denied, the carrier is required to return or destroy the shipment.

The CDC permit is available on mayocliniclabs.com under Specimen Handling. Please contact the Mayo Clinic Laboratories Logistics Team if you have any questions.
