Dr. Leslie Donato discusses lipid testing on ADLM’s Laborastories: The Podcast
Leslie Donato, Ph.D., the co-director of the Hospital Clinical Laboratory and associate professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, recently joined “Laborastories: The Podcast,” hosted by Dr. Anthony Killeen, president of the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM). They discuss best practices and new guidance relating to essential lipid testing.
Dr. Donato spoke about her recent publication of the new ADLM guidance document titled “The Measurement and Reporting of Lipids and Lipoproteins,” which appeared in the September issue of the Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine. As the co-author, Dr. Donato laid out new guidance and best practices regarding lipid testing, ensuring the best care for patients with heart disease.
In the podcast, Dr. Donato explains, “This document tries to modernize and educate clinical laboratorians on the most recent evidence-based improvements in lipid and lipoprotein testing, so that we can all move the field forward while offering the best and most accurate lipid and lipoprotein tests to our physicians and patients.”
