Overview

For more than 40 years, this meeting has been the major international conference in Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections, bringing together the most knowledgeable investigators in the world and their trainees to share scientific discoveries relevant to infections transmitted by Ixodes ticks. The first conference was held in November 1983 at Yale University, with subsequent conferences being held every 2–3 years alternating between sites in the United States and in Europe.

This 17th conference will be the first to highlight the U.S. Midwest, an important emerging area in tick-borne disease with different ecology, different reservoir hosts, and a new spectrum of recently discovered pathogens.

This interactive conference will provide practical updates on challenges faced in the field, along with key information on the application of new developments in the biology, ecology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Lyme borreliosis and tick-borne diseases. Subject matter experts will deliver information through in-depth discussions and question-and-answer sessions geared to increase knowledge, performance, and patient outcomes. Dr. Allen Steere, a preeminent investigator in Lyme borreliosis and Lyme arthritis, will be delivering the keynote speech at the welcome reception on Sept. 7, 2025.

Abstracts

The 17th International Conference on Lyme Borreliosis and Other Tick-Borne Diseases is accepting abstracts detailing original research dedicated to the all aspects of tick-borne diseases to be presented at this meeting. Poster sessions will take place on September 8-10th, 2025.

Abstract topics

For structuring of the scientific program, the Scientific Committee has identified the following topics that will ensure smooth evaluation and arranging the presentations into thematically focused sessions. When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to select one of the topics below.

  • Ecology
  • Epidemiology
  • Pathogenesis
  • Diagnostics
  • Clinical Aspects

  • Prevention II: Reducing exposure risk to infected ticks (e.g. acaricides, wildlife-targeted interventions)
  • Co-infections and Other tickborne Diseases
  • Miscellaneous*
