Overview

This webinar will provide a review of several real-life laboratory safety events. The presentation will outline the scenarios and the lessons learned and look at ways to prevent future incidents. We will also discuss ways to create effective corrective and preventive action plans.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the hierarchy of controls.
  • Identify several different hazards in the clinical laboratory.
  • Identify possible tools to help prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Discuss the need for root cause analysis (RCA) for safety events.
  • Describe different methods for completing an RCA.

This webinar is appropriate for laboratory administrators and managers, safety coordinators, quality assurance and control staff, supervisors, and other laboratory personnel who are dedicated to safety, continuous quality, and process improvement.
