From Bench to Business: Outreach Program Essentials

February 8, 2018 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT

Cost

Free for all participants.

Overview

Laboratory Outreach is more than a department, program or activity housed within the laboratory. Rather it is a service line that must be managed as a business, and the laboratory scientist training and skillset are not well-aligned with the business needs of the outreach program. Essential areas of focus must include Leadership, Strategy, Business Development, Finance, Marketing and Operations. Join us for the first program in our new series, where we will outline these necessary skills and help you develop a plan to enhance your laboratory outreach service line.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Identify the essential components that comprise a laboratory outreach service line.
  • Develop a common vocabulary (lexicon) of outreach business terms.
  • Create a professional development and learning plan to enhance outreach competence.

Intended Audience

The outreach forums are applicable to community hospital laboratory administrators, managers, directors, pathologists, outreach coordinators, marketing representatives, and sales managers.
