Specialized testing for monoclonal protein identification

Advanced technology enables precision insights

MASS-FIX is a highly sensitive testing approach that uses matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry to weigh monoclonal immunoglobins (IgM), also known as monoclonal proteins (M-proteins), associated with numerous disease states across the physiologic spectrum. Weighing M-proteins enables detection of the lowest possible amounts of abnormal cells, providing the most accurate understanding of a patient’s M-protein disorder and how best to treat it.

Problematic proteins with multi-system impact

M-proteins are antibody fragments generated by abnormal production of plasma cells. Although aberrant M-proteins are produced by blood plasma cells, their impact extends to renal and neurologic systems, as well as hematologic, where they cause a number of blood and marrow disorders, including cancer. As more is learned about the molecular, cytogenic, and protein variations of M-protein disorders, clinicians have discovered additional disease associations.
