COVID-19 Laboratory Update: March 12 | PCR Testing

Mayo Clinic’s Clinical Virology Laboratory has finalized development of a new test to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus in clinical samples. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is the cause of COVID-19.
At this time, the Mayo Clinic test is only available to the Mayo Clinic practice. The laboratory will use a scaled approach to expand capacity in the coming weeks. We will proactively notify our health care partners outside of Mayo Clinic when capacity is available for their testing needs.

In the interim, our referral process is live for COVID-19. Mayo Clinic Laboratories remains in full service for all your reference laboratory testing and diagnostic needs. We are committed to being your trusted partner in addressing the serious and complex medical conditions of your patients.
