MCL Education releases phlebotomy safety module

Phlebotomy Module 2

Mayo Clinic Laboratories Education has released a new learning module around the subject of phlebotomy safety. This will be the second in a series of six phlebotomy modules to be released by the MCL Education team. The building of these modules is a joint effort with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic.

“Module 2: Safety” will introduce learners to safety tips related to bloodborne pathogens, common viruses in the health care setting,  and personal protective equipment necessary to protect them. Additionally, information specific to infection control, including an explanation of how infections are spread and the precautions that can be taken to minimize the risk of transmitting health care-acquired infections, will be shared.

The first two Phlebotomy Modules are now available on the Mayo Clinic Laboratories Education website. This complimentary education program offers laboratory credit including ASCLS P.A.C.E.®, State of California, and State of Florida.

For more information or to view the modules, visit the Mayo Clinic Laboratories Education website.
