Phlebotomy Module 3

Mayo Clinic Laboratories Education is pleased to announce the release of its third Phlebotomy Module on “Phlebotomy Techniques.” This will be the third of a series of six modules to be released by the MCL Education team over time. The building of these modules is a joint effort with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic.

Module 3: Phlebotomy Techniques” will provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to become a successful phlebotomist. The basics of phlebotomy, like the anatomy of the arm, and phlebotomy techniques, including tying a tourniquet, will be examined. Information related to collection devices, types of equipment used, and the situations each would be used in, will be shared. How to avoid failed attempts and how to proceed when you have a failed attempt also will be explained.

The first three Phlebotomy Modules are now available on MCL Education’s website. This complimentary education offering does offer laboratory credit including ASCLS P.A.C.E.®, State of California and State of Florida.
